The queue outside was growing, so was the anticipation of what the X-Factor star had in store for the night.
A long wait after going into the venue the first and only support act came on stage took up his place in front of the microphone, with his guitar in hand. Max Tuohy started strumming away into his first song. Even though he was just in one position throughout his performance, it was nice to see an act who didn’t have a full band behind them to distract the attention of the audience and just used the power of his vocals and songs such as obsessed to win over the crowds affections. While making small talk between the crowd, he had to sort out his guitar so he could carry on with his set. Although collectively he was only on stage for around 20/25 minutes, his performance was definately worth the wait.
The band members had come onto the stage, the lights went blue, the crowd were screaming and Diana Vickers stepped up to the microphone. She went into her first song of the night, ‘Boy who murdered’. After banging her teeth on the microphone a few times throughout the set, she made some quirky comments about her clumsiness. She also performed ‘Jumping Into Rivers’ which she co-wrote with Ellie Goulding, ‘Remake Me and You’, ‘Numb’. She also performed a cover of Snow Patrol’s ‘Just Say Yes’, there was a story behind this cover; a member of Snow Patrol had written the song and given it to Diana, who had then reconsidered giving the song away, had phoned her back to get the song back. Diana loved the song so much she decided to do her own version of the song. It was surprising how much energy she was putting into the set, as she was moving around on stage and interacting with the crowd quite a lot. The ‘last’ song that she performed was her number one single ‘Once’, going off stage for a few moments. She came back with one final song ‘Notice’. Diana has definately come a long way since she first appeared on the X-Factor, and was well worth the wait to see live!
