Calling all trumpeters! Hyde & Beast need you! The Sunderland duo of The Futureheads’ Dave Hyde and ex-Golden Virgins drummer Neil Bassett are getting ready to hit the road on their first ever UK headline tour and are looking for talented trumpet players from around the country to join them onstage. The selected musicians will accompany them during the performances of their recent single, ‘Never Come Back’.
Neil ‘Beast’ Bassett explained,“If you or someone you know can blow a mean horn then get in touch. We will get you and a mate into the show for free; we can have a little practice in soundcheck and then play the show. Should be a blast!”
To apply, simply send your name, contact details and the date you would like to play tohydeandbeast@hotmail.co.ukalong with a confirmation that you have a trumpet you’re able to use. The band will get back to those selected to play with more information. You can see the video for ‘Never Come Back’ here:www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpFDZOlVP_U
Hyde & Beast are also set to release their brand new single ‘You Will Be Lonely’ on November 14th through their very own label,Tail Feather Records. You can see the brand new video for ‘You Will Be Lonely‘, directed by Ian West here:
Hyde & Beast will be playing the following shows, and need a different trumpeter for each date except Manchester:
We took it from a Bob Dylan documentary where they were talking about the McCarthyist Blacklisters, I liked the “ers” bit. Joe Strummer was in a band called the 101ers and I liked the “ers” bit of that. We are not making any statements or anything except maybe that we have good credit.
Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?
Sting, Brian May, late Rod Stewart, Brian Adams, they’re the big ones. Ummmm we take inspiration from all sorts, The Jesus Lizard, Shellac and Kong (also Brew records) are massive influences. I’d be hard pressed to tell you a better band in the UK than Kong past or present. Ummm Pissed Jean, Big ‘n and Oxes bands like that. We also take a bunch of inspiration from bands that are around us all the time like Hawk Eyes and These Monsters. Having a bunch of bands around you that you like as bands and as people does the world of good for what you do I think.
What can people expect from your live show?
We put Circle Of Life by Elton John on the PA and all sit and cry for 30 minutes.
What song would you recommend from your Facebook?
If I could post “Kiss From A Rose” by Seal on it, it would be that. As it is there are three you can stream, Swords, I Can Confirm… and Trick F*ck. Take your pick they are are all pretty good if you wanna know what we sound like.
