Hailing from Halifax, England, Wot Gorilla? combine elements of math, pop and progressive rock with heavy melodic breakdowns.
The band are pleased to present their video for ‘Snow White’ taken from their upcoming debut album ’Kebnekaise’ due for release this August.
With a name originating from a track on the 1976 Genesis album ‘Wind & Wuthering’, the four piece band take cues from progressive pop and rock from then and now – but firmly rooted in the latter.
The band is known for their technical performances, taking the audience on an unpredictable and energetic journey.  A focal point of the bands style is their highly complex song structures, bizarre time signatures and Haigh’s distinctive vocals. The band have shared stages with the likes of Tubelord, Tera Melos, Cursive and The Get Up Kids as well as various festivals around the UK including slots at Reading and Leeds festival.
We really liked the idea of Chasing. But we wanted to be Chasing something. Cadence is Latin for rhythm and it’s also the term used for the end of a musical phrase, so it fits well in that sense. It’s obviously also a girls name. Being the romantics that we are, it vaguely symbolises the chasing of something that you want in life, whether that be a person or anything else. We also wanted our name to be slightly different!
Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?
Individually our influences range from metalcore to pop and all in between, including Rockabilly! Bands that inspire us at the moment are Mallory Knox, Deaf Havana, Hildamay, Don Broco, Young Guns, Devil Sold His Soul and Lower Than Atlantis
Our single/video ‘Accidents Will Happen’ is on our Facebook page at the moment.
Here’s the latest from Chasing Cadence..
Our brand new single ‘Young’ is being released on Sunday 10 March, along with a video to accompany it. It was recorded by Dan Lancaster (Mallory Knox, Lower Than Atlantis, Don Broco) and the video was shot by Full Circle Media. We are in the process of writing our EP which is set for release in the Summer. This will include 1 or 2 tracks with some surprise guest vocals on there which we’re really excited about.
Upcoming shows:
Saturday 9 March – Blast Fest 2013 at The Intake in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire (with Lecarla, You Cried Wolf and many others)
Thursday 28 March – The Square, Harlow (Headline)
Friday 29 March – The Junction, Cambridge
