Fenech Soler – Release ‘Stop And Stare’

Posted on 05 March 2010 by Emma

NEW SINGLE – STOP AND STARE

RELEASED 19th APRIL ON MODA MUSIC

A spectral club-land anthem, over sparkling synths and massed ranks of percussion, Stop And Stare is the new single from Fenech-Soler, released on Moda Music on 19th April.

Fenech-Soler are hot dancefloor property right now, having recently collaborated on Groove Armada’s remarkable ‘return to form’ Paper Romance and remixed the latest Marina & The Diamonds single Hollywood into a club and blog sensation. Stop And Stare once again taps the bands gift for radio-friendly hooks and peak time floor filling.

Originally conceived as a studio project by brothers Ben and Ross Duffy, with child hood friend Dan Soler – whiling away the hours of a sleepy existence in provincial Kings Cliffe – the trio combined with drummer and studio partner Andrew Lindsay to create an unlikely production powerhouse and a formidable live act.

Brewing their own brand of fantasy pop, they were first spotted by French dance don Alan Braxe, who released debut single The Cult Of Romance on his Vulture label last summer. Introduced to London via Paris, the track picked up plays from Pete Tong, Kissy Sell Out, Eddie Temple Morris, and Annie Mac – who included the Alan Braxe mix on her 2009 compilation.  In the autumn, the follow-up single Liesreleased and championed by Jaymo & George’s Moda Music label – quickly gained the support of Zane Lowe and daytime Radio 1.

** STOP AND STARE is released on download with remixes from..

Jaymo & Andy George, Mighty Mouse, Tony Senghore and Reset.

Breaking out of their own native scene where they’ve built a huge following, Young Rebel Set’s songs are the sound of disenchanted, literate, working class young men in Northern Britain in 2010, looking for a means of escape through the music they love. Fronted by Matty Chipchase, all seven members of the band have been friends since school and include two sets of brothers, further cementing the gang spirit.

Wont Get Up Again’ is another outstanding anthem from Young Rebel Set, blending the band’s love of folk and punk into a rousing tale of stumbling down the wrong path. Their love for Dylan can be seen on ‘Bagatelle‘ which highlights the more delicate side of Chipchase’s vocals and the band’s subtle musicianship. And with ‘Rosie‘ they tell the story of a woman trying to change her wayward ways. Matty’s strong accent is as ever present, and these songs could come from nowhere else but the North East of England, adding to the band’s collective charm and individuality.

Young Rebel Set are currently working on their debut album.

Band:

Matty Chipchase - Vocals/guitar
Andy Parmley - Guitar
Chris Parmley - bass
Mark Evans - Mandolin
Paddy Jordan - Guitar / keyboard
Luke Evans - Drums

Anonymous Tip – Announce new single + spring tour

Posted on 05 March 2010 by Emma

Anonymous Tip Announce Spring 2010 UK Tour

UK punk rock merchants Anonymous Tip are hitting the road this spring in support of their forthcoming new single ‘The Weirder Brave’ which will be available from 12th April 2010.

The Twickenham band get a lot off their collective chests on this single, which tackles the rise of the BNP. This is something particularly close to lead singer Sanj Surati’s heart.

“I used to be quite scared of the rise of the BNP back in the early 90’s. I was only about 14 but was frustrated about the idea of a political party controlling this country with race divisions as the core of their policy. The sudden recent rise of the BNP has ignited all those feelings from when I was a boy and I’m proud to have the opportunity to be releasing a song that talks about the subject.

This tour is all about positivity though and we are so looking forward to playing live again. It’s been about six months since we last did a show and we are so itching to get onstage and feel the electricity of the crowd and to get sweaty onstage. We will be playing with some awesome bands on this tour and we’ll be making it up to Scotland, which we haven’t played since 2004. Bring on the whiskey!”

The full details of the tour are as follows:

Tour dates:

3rd March 2010 – The Betsy Trotwood (W/ BLACK MANILA BEACH PARADE)

4th March 2010 – The Sound House – Bolton
10th March 2010 – The Wheatsheaf – Oxford (W/ UNDERSMILE)
11th March 2010 – The Relentless Garage – London (W/ THE DEAD FORMATS, TURBOWOLF & THE SMOKING HEARTS)
28th March 2010 – The Retro Bar – Manchester
1st April 2010 – The Alsager Arms – Stoke On Trent (W/ EDELWEISS PIRATES)
4th April 2010 – The Old Bell Inn – Derby (W/ EDELWEISS PIRATES)
5th April 2010 – The Angel Inn – Durham (W/ EDELWEISS PIRATES)
6th April 2010 – Henry’s Cellar Bar Edinburgh (W/ EDELWEISS PIRATES)

Third Eye Blind – Add second London show due to phenomenal demand….New Album April 2010

Posted on 04 March 2010 by Emma

European Tour May 2010 – Extra UK Date Added
Single: “Don’t Believe A Word”
Release date: 10th May 2010
Album: ‘Ursa Major’
Release date: April 12th 2010

Due to phenomenal demand – their first UK show selling out – Third Eye Blind have added a  second UK headline date in May 2010. The band are also set to release their first album in over six years on April 12th 2010 through Mega Collider Records, followed by a single “Don’t Believe A Word” on the 10th May 2010.

The “Ursa Major” album has already been released in the USA to widespread critical and commercial acclaim. Charting at No 1 in the Billboard Alternative charts and a career best No 3 in the Billboard top 100. The Associated Press hailed the album as “a musical gem” and “a fine line between aggression and a deft pop sensibility…Jenkins’ lyrics juxtapose poetry with profanity, anger with longing and big world issues with the personal…”

Between 2007 and 2009 the band performed before a remarkable 1 million people. Pure and authentic, a canon of songs with no media coverage or radio play have compelled a new generation of followers by organic word of mouth alone.  Fans attached themselves to songs like “Slow Motion” and “Motorcycle Drive By,” the former of which was censored by their record company but began appearing on file-sharing sites with full lyrics, and is now hailed as a masterpiece being covered by countless other bands.

“Now is a much better time for us. Technology has democratized our ability to make and distribute music straight to fans, and the perception of the band has changed radically,” says Stephan Jenkins, who is happily releasing this album through the band’s own label, Mega Collider Records.  “People have been trading our songs over the years.  Third Eye Blind became a playlist; this is a completely fan-based thing, complete with those little chunks you get in homemade apple cider.”

Emotional, ironic, reflective, aggressive, and sometimes outwardly political, Ursa Major features some of the most intense music of Third Eye Blind’s career.  Jenkins backs up what he sings, having spent most of 2008 on the campaign trail lecturing colleges on behalf of President Obama and writing regularly about “taking progressives to task for not standing up for themselves” appearing on Air America and working on extreme poverty issues with the organization ‘True Meaning’.

Third Eye Blind blasted out of San Francisco when “Semi-Charmed Life” went to # 1 at Modern Rock and their self-titled album sold 6 million copies worldwide in 1997. This debut album contained several other chart-topping singles such as “Jumper,” “How’s It Going To Be,” “Graduate” and others cementing the band’s place in music history. The unique combination of brutal and controversial lyrics mixed with infectious melodies made an indelible connection with fans – it’s a phenomenon that defines Third Eye Blind and has made them the most requested band on college campuses going on three years now. Yes, this band’s audience keeps getting younger. The band’s song “Jumper” was recently used in Jim Carrey’s movie Yes Man and regularly sells over 5,000 singles a week, 10 years after its release.

Third Eye Blind are an established live draw. The band are set to tour Europe in May 2010 – the dates are as follows

Wednesday 5th May 2010                       Trix Club, Antwerp (Belgium)

Thursday 6th May 2010                          Elysee Montmartre, Paris (France)

Sunday 9th May 2010                                              Luxor, Koln (Germany)

Thursday 13th May 2010                        O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London (UK) SOLD OUT

JAGUAR LOVE – New album UK release details

Posted on 03 March 2010 by Emma

JAGUAR LOVE
Hologram Jams
New album to be released 26th April
(Fat Possum Records)

www.wearejaguarlove.comwww.twitter.com/jaguarlovebandwww.myspace.com/jaguarloveband

Blood Brothers may have betrayed their blood oath by breaking up, but the spirit of that raucous Seattle act lives on in Jaguar Love. Despite being mainly based in Seattle and Portland, the duo basically live on the road and have played live with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age (Rob Pope of Spoon played based for JAGUAR LOVE on a recent tour), TV on the Radio and more.

‘Hologram Jams’  is the first Jaguar Love album to feature the band’s stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up two-piece line up of Johnny Whitney (Vocals, keys, drum machines) and Cody Votolato (Guitars, vocals, drum machines), both formerly of the late, lamented Blood Brothers. “Cody and I have always had a strong bond, both creatively and as friends – and working on this album together was the most productive, free flow of ideas I have ever been a part of,” said Whitney.

During their short career so far the band’s inimitable sound has inspired the folks at Matador Records, who signed one album and an EP, as well as Fat Possum, who have now signed them to a worldwide deal.

Sophomore full-length ‘Hologram Jams’ reunited Cody and Johnny with producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Los Campesinos!, Death Cab For Cutie), who also produced Blood Brothers’ 100,000+ selling ‘Crimes’ and co-produced the subsequent ‘Young Machetes’ with Guy Picciotto of Fugazi fame. Goodmanson co-produced with Votolato and Whitney on this one too and the resulting sound combines soulful howls colliding with and coursing over relentless dance beats and heavy glam guitars. Hologram Jams is bursting with hooks.

Whilst there are no finalized plans for Jaguar Love to stalk music-loving prey on the road over here right now, the band promises “endless amounts of touring” so watch this space.

TRACKLISTING –

I Started A Fire

Polaroids and Red Wine

Cherry Soda

Don’t Die Alone

Up All Night

Jaguar Warriors

Everything Is Awesome
