HEAVEN’S BASEMENT – FIRE, FIRE
Released 5th November 2012 (Red Bull Records)
Words: Gaz Martinez
Anybody that doesn’t know of one of England’s biggest underground rock bands, Heaven’s Basement, quite frankly, should! Their latest single, Fire Fire, is essentially the amalgamation of all of the best virtues the hard/classic rock genre has to offer, it’s packed with ballsy attitude, powerful rhythms, energetic riffing and unbridled fretwork as guitarist Sid Glover let’s rip relentlessly. From the opening drums and guitars these elements collide and combine to give you a song that’s worth remembering, and you can rest assured the masses will be screaming “Fire! Fire!” in arenas before long, while the beautifully placed clean/soft midsection will see said arena light up with ten thousand specs of light.
Having supported Papa Roach, Shinedown and Buckcherry, there is a serious amount of pressure on these boys to show the American audiences how the British do rock, Fire Fire suggests that we do it good! As a band that has spent a long time outside of the spotlight of the mainstream, this single is the message to any long-time fans that their dedication and support is paying off, to a first- time listener, it’s is the message for them to get out the house and catch a show while they can still be seen up close, because before long, the clubs will give way to the stadiums should Heaven’s Basement continue to follow their plotted course.
