Tonight James Morrison was in Cambridge again..
After about an hour of waiting inside the venue, the first and only support act had finally come on stage. Rainy Boy Sleep came out on stage by himself with his guitar in hand. He went straight into the first song of his set. At first I wasn’t to keen on what he was doing. But as he went further into his set, and with songs such as ‘Your Face’ and ‘Shopping Centre Song’, I definitely had to reconsider my initial reaction. As the set progressed it seemed that he was starting to become more comfortable in front of the crowd, who in turn were becoming more responsive. It was the first time in which I had seen someone record their own instrumentals on stage, which I thought was quite unique. All in all he gave a great performance, and you should definitely check him out if he is in your town soon.

The lights went dark again around half hour later. The backing band came out on stage, took their places and began playing the instrumentals to the first song. The excitement and anticipation were building rapidly. James Morrison finally came out on stage and the crowd went crazy. He went into ‘Beautiful Life’, also giving us a great performance of other songs from the new album ‘The Awakening’, such as ‘I Won’t Let You Go’, ‘One Life’, and ‘Slave to the Music’ after giving us the inspiration behind the song. James was making banter with the crowd throughout the night. It seemed like only a short amount of time when James and the band were heading off stage. Time does fly when you’re having fun and that is certainly what the Corn Exchange was having tonight, fun! The crowd were stomping their feet and shouting out for more. Not long after the band came out again. James came out and leant over one side of the stage to touch members of the crowds hands. He started the encore off with ‘The Awakening’. Before long the band were heading off the stage again. James jumped down to the barriers and ran from one side to the other, jumped back on stage and headed off blowing kisses to the crowd. He is definitely a showman and I would highly recommend going to see him live.
