KHAN – BROADSWORDS
Released 16th July 2012 (Gravy Records)

Words: John Newspeaker for Noise Addiction

Khan will bring out the tribal punk energy in even the mildest of reviewers, and as powerful as new single Broadswords is, it slightly lacks the pull for me to replay it over and over again. A shot in the arm it may be but music not only has to challenge (which is exactly the angle Khan are coming from) but it has to be melodic or hooky enough for us to hit replay. So for me this doesn’t quite hit the spot but what it does do is make me stand up and pay attention, so for that I salute them.

I can hear/feel/smell the essence of the Cramps, The Fall, Theatre of hate and Public Image Ltd in this track but all at different junctures, go and make your own comparisons and if you like it buy it, if you don’t you’re a pussy. Meow!
