MINIATURE DINOSAURS – LEMONADE
Released 13th August 2012 (Integrity Records)

Words: Emma Lawrence

Miniature Dinosaurs are a band that hails from my neck of the woods, Stirling, Scotland. And a band that have huge success in front of them. Listening to “Lemonade” reminds me of something that Lloyd Cole and the Commotions would have released in the 1980’s, a good toe tapper that you would hear down the local indie disco.

Lead singer Barry MacLean has a voice similar to Lloyd Cole and the band has created a perfect song for the summer. The song is about young love and the social awkwardness that accompanies it, with a snappy upbeat tempo, it’s a song that draws you in as soon as you hear the first strum of the guitar.

The song starts off as if you’ve walked into the middle of something, and this is how I like my indie. I like the harmonies too, they are well thought out and are done beautifully, not too much.

Overall, “Lemonade” is, in my opinion, the perfect song for the summer. Integrity Records have done good here by landing this lot. Good job Mini Dinos! I look forward to hearing more from you, and possibly bumping into you on my local high street!
