SCOUNDRELS – SEXY WEEKEND
Released 2nd July 2012 (Blue Horizon)
Words: John Newspeaker for Noise Addiction
Indie Blues with twisted Pop and Rock (a-billy) sensibilities is the closest I can come to getting a handle on Scoundrels. This is great from 1st chord to last drum beat. They have a style that is very Alabama Shakes albeit more polished, and in places it reminds me of the softer side of Kings of Leon or even the Stones with a Southern Comfort laidback vibe..
But as they tell us in 3rd track London they are from London, but that’s not important as they sound truly International. Research proves that even the old stuff is good, the new stuff is good, and most probably the future will be good for Scoundrels.
I did wonder why they released a 5 track EP (nearly half an album) but after hearing all of Sexy Weekend I can see/hear, that they are taking us through the full gamut of their song writing abilities. Also see http://scoundrels.fm/splash/ for their older songs and YouTube links etc…
Good is good in whatever genre and this is Good, very Good.
