What made you name your band ShyChlo?

The name ShyChlo was actually given as a nick name to lead vocalist Chloe to describe her split personality ShyChlo vs Psycho. The name stuck from there and it’s like Chloe’s alter ego, as she becomes the explosive performer on stage.

Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?

With 6 of us in the band, individually we all have a wide taste in music which all comes together and creeps it’s way into our music. From death metal to electronic, hip hop to classical and everything in between.

What can people expect from your live show?

Lots of jokes, sweat, blood, equipment failures and above all an abundance of energy! We play every single show like it’s the last show we’ll ever play.

What song would you recommend from your Facebook?

The new single From A Dream To The Young Supreme which is out April 9th of course! Also our last single “Wake Up” if you’re into the pop punk vibe.

March 2012 – Band Of The Month

What made you name your band AlicebanD?

I took my name, and then the fact that we are a band, and merged those two together to formulate the ultimate band name ever! But wait, we’re not done yet.. Instead of merely two words.. Alice and Band.. I put them as one word, then made the D big… which makes it a bit more symmetrical… creative genius I know… Let’s just pretend there aren’t 4 other bands also called AlicebanD.. one a lot more successful than we are…

Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?

We all have different influences, and I wouldn’t really say we actively try to make our music sound like anyone elses.. But in an ideal world we’d have the harmonies of system of a down, the fun of faith no more, the soul of joan armatrading, the lyrics of eminem and the voice of.. someone else really good.. But we can’t do that, we can only do AlicebanD.. which actually works quite well..

What can people expect from your live show?

It’s hard to say really. I do solo shows as well as full band. The solo shows are a lot more emotional, and I always think they’re been a success if at least one person has cried. Full band is a lot more laid back and fun, we try to get people dancing and never take ourselves too seriously. I try to bring the words to life, because they’re the most important bit.. Overall I would say people should expect some music and singing and stuff..

What song would you recommend from your Facebook?

‘Who You Wished I Was’ is one of my favourites. It’s quite an old song.. but it’s pretty.. and I like it.

AS AUTUMN FALLS

February 2012 – Band Of The Month

What made you name your band As Autumn Falls?

The band has seen a few name changes and different members over the years. The name As Autumn Falls was randomly made up and it stuck. There’s no meaning or anything like that. Although I like to think that its a play on words as Autumn is also called Fall in Northern America!

Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?

Bands that we draw inspiration are the bands that we listen to. We dont listen to one genre of music though, we all have different tastes. A few bands to name include The Devil Wears Prada, Funeral For A Friend and Heart In Hand.

What can people expect from your live show?

People can expect a very energetic live show with lots of lights for effect. We try and give as much as possible on stage so that the crowd can feel comfortable and give us some energy back. Our vocalist enjoys getting in peoples faces and getting interaction from the crowd. We always try and have parts of our songs that the crowd can sing or scream back at us which really blows us away!

What song would you recommend from your Facebook?

A song I’d recommend from our Facebook would be ‘Your White Collar Means Nothing’. Its the song we most often open with at our shows as its a straight to the point, in your face song. Theres no build up, it starts heavy and continues that way through the whole song!

TO THE LIONS

January 2012 – Band Of The Month

What made you name your band To The Lions?

We were all in a band before To The Lions, just with an additional singer, when she left, we changed our direction drastically, so we decided we needed a new name. We put our music library on shuffle and waited to see if anything jumped out at us. We had a long list which we all disagreed on, and To The Lions was one of the only ones everyone liked!

Which bands do you draw inspiration from musically?

Machine Head, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Hatebreed, The Haunted. A lot of metal, but you’ll find a lot more in our songs than just chuggy riffs, some have some quite catchy singalong choruses, and others have bluesy lead parts!

What can people expect from your live show?

A band who always give everything they have, whether it’s in front of 10 people or 100 people! Heavy breakdowns, mosh pits, and most of all, a good time for everyone!

What song would you recommend from your Facebook?

Breathe is the best example of the direction we are headed. We are also giving it away for free (along with ‘Step by Step’) on our official website (www.tothelions.co.uk).

FLOODLIGHTS

December 2011 – Band Of The Month

What made you name your band Floodlights?

Well it’s quite a long and weird story but to shorten it, we spent ages trying to come up with a name during practices. I can’t remember what we’d settled for before as a temporary name but we didn’t like it much. Then a few practices in we were leaving practice pissing around when Alastair walked under a lamppost and just came out with “Floodlights” which we all liked the sound of and that’s pretty much how we came up with it.

What can people expect from your live show?

We like to share a lot of excitement on and off the stage and try to get the crowd involved as much as possible with alot of alcohol flying about, hopefully most of it staying down. Which at the end of it ends up looking more like a mixture of boobs and people punching each others lights out. The best thing is, once we get to 1000 likes on our facebook page Callum has agreed to play a full set in a mankini (shaving optional).

What song would you recommend from your Facebook?

Unfortunately we only have one demo currently up on our Facebook, but we will be back in the studio from January 2012 to record a couple more songs for you all so keep an eye out in a few months time.
