Japandroids

  • Announce reissue compilation: ‘No Singles’ taken from out-of print EPs
  • Additionally to release 7″ single series of unreleased songs
  • New May UK tour dates announced

Not ones to rest on their laurels, Japandroids have announced they will be re-releasing their two out-of-print EPs as a reissue compilation through Polyvinyl Records on May 11th. Entitled ‘No Singles’, the ten tracks have been remastered by John Golden (Melvins, Nirvana) and will be available on gatefold 180 gram vinyl, CD – both of which will include a 32 page booklet – and digital download. The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Darkness on the Edge of Gastown, 2. No Allegiance to the Queen, 3. Sexual Aerosol, 4. Lovers/Strangers, 5. Lucifer’s Symphony, 6. Couture Suicide, 7. Avant Sleepwalk, 8. Coma Complacency, 9. To Hell with Good Intentions, 10. Press Corps

Additionally Japandroids will be releasing a five-part series of 7″ singles throughout 2010 on Polyvinyl Records. Each limited edition 7″ will feature a previously unreleased track from the ‘Post Nothing’ sessions alongside a cover. Japandroids devised the 7″ series as a way to give something back to their fans while the band is in the midst of heavy touring and unable to record a full album. Each two-song 7″ will be recorded during the brief period of time the band is at home between tours.

First up, released on April 12th is ‘Art Czars’, the clear coloured vinyl will also feature ‘Racer-X’ – a Big Black cover and live favourite. You can preorder it here plus it will also be available for digital download:

After a string of triumphant debut shows in the UK last year, which saw the two-piece bring their explosive live act to packed out audiences, Japandroids have confirmed they will return to Europe for a string of UK shows in May including an appearance at The Great Escape Festival. Having sold out London’s ICA, 6 weeks in advance of their headline show last month, Japandroids will be playing The Garage when they return in May.

White Belt Yellow Tag

SINGLE ‘ALWAYS & ECHOES’ OUT MARCH 29TH

ALBUM ‘METHODS’ OUT APRIL 5TH

(DISTILLER RECORDS)

www.myspace.com/whitebeltyellowtag | www.www.distiller-records.com

White Belt Yellow Tag have announced details of the release of debut album, Methods, out on Monday April 5th 2010 through Distiller Records. Self-produced and mixed by Chris Potter (The Verve, Blur), the 12-track album was recorded in South Yorkshire in the summer of 2009.

The album will be preceded by a single Always & Echoes’, which is set for release on March 29th. The single also features the tracks ‘Postcards’, ‘You Have No Friends’ and ‘We All Have Sound (Rhysmix Vs Wahs mix)’.

Having already bagged some impressive radio and press support (record of the week slots on 6 music, Zane Lowe support) off the back of 3 EPs in the second half of 2009, their debut album is the perfect snap-shot of White Belt Yellow Tag. Wide-screen and far-reaching, the 12 tracks span a sound ranging from the slow grind of Slint to the euphoria of Doves to the icy grandeur of prime-time Bunnymen.

The three-piece, made up of Justin Lockey, (ex Yourcodenameis:Milo), Craig Pilbin & Tom Bellamy came together at the start of 2009 when Lockey and Pilbin met in a studio in Newcastle. The last 12-months have seen the band tour extensively (most recently in support of The Airborne Toxic Event) and develop a fearsome live reputation.

METHODS tracklisting:

1.   Remains

2.   Tell Your Friends (It All Worked Out)

3.   You’re Not Invincible

4.   It’s A Long Way, Don’t You Fall Behind

5.   Where Echoes Land

6.   Always & Echoes

7.   So Try My Enemies

You Me At Six – Announce New Single

Posted on 05 February 2010 by Emma

YOU ME AT SIX Release new single ‘Liquid Confidence’ after biggest tour to date

YOU ME AT SIX‘S meteoric rise from the underground to the mainstream continues unabated. Already scheduled to play their biggest tour to date next month, the quintet will also release their new single ‘Liquid Confidence‘ on April 19th on Virgin Records.

Combining tender emotions with the band’s patented exuberant energy, ‘Liquid Confidence’ utilises an acoustic opening and atmospheric vocal harmonies to create one of the band’s most anthemic moments to date. The single is taken from the band’s recently released second album ‘Hold Me Down‘ that debuted at #5 as the second highest new entry of the week – three places above Delphic.

YOU ME AT SIX’S famously incendiary live show recently toured arenas as guests to Paramore, and has also graced festival dates including Download, Reading, Leeds and T in the Park. Their biggest headline show to date at London’s Roundhouse will be surpassed with the Brixton date of their imminent UK tour:

March

9th – Birmingham, O2 Academy
10th – Newport, Centre
11th – Sheffield, O2 Academy
12th – Manchester, Apollo
13th – Newcastle, O2 Academy
14th – Glasgow, O2 Academy
16th – Leeds, O2 Academy
17th – Nottingham Rock City
18th – Southampton, Guildhall
19th – Norwich, UEA
20th – London, Brixton O2 Academy

Produced by John Mitchell (Funeral For A Friend, Enter Shikari, Architects) and Matt O’Grady (The Blackout, Hexes), and mastered by Bob Ludwig (Radiohead, Coldplay, Pearl Jam), ‘Hold Me Down’ has built upon the momentum which was established with their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Take Off Your Colours’. The Surrey quintet has twice been nominated for Best British Band at the Kerrang! Awards and were also named Best British Newcomers in the Kerrang! Readers’ Poll.

The High Wire – Release ‘Midnight Bell’ single 1st March

Posted on 11 January 2010 by Emma

THE HIGH WIRE
Album: ‘The Midnight Bell’

Released on: 1st March 2010
Label: Grandpa Stan

As Spring 2010 rears its head, on hand to lend the perfect musical accompaniment to the rising temperatures and sites of colour splashing the grey canvas of the countryside are The High Wire with their gorgeous new single ‘The Midnight Bell’. The exhilarating sound of their latest offering will easily sweep away the final traces of winter from your mind as you come out of hibernation and shake off your vitamin D deficiency.

The tail end of last year proved that spending the vast majority of 2009 holed up in a darkened studio was well worth it, as the band emerged from hiding with previous single ‘Odds & Evens’ (”the perfect summer single” – The Sunday Times Culture) to the sound of critical acclaim and wagging tongues.

Tim Crompton (lead vocals, guitar), Stuart Peck (guitar, vocals) and Alexia Hagen’s (keys, vocals) unique brand of dreamy luscious “ecstasy pop” is a blend of acoustic based melodies and blissfully chanted vocal harmonies. Their beautifully crafted musical dreamscapes have been flatteringly compared to the genius of likes of My Bloody Valentine and Mercury Rev.

‘The Midnight Bell’ single comes with a remix by Disco Bloodbath and the accompanying video for the track is directed by Mat Whitecross (Ian Dury: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll).

The High Wire’s debut album ‘The Sleep Tape’, released March 8th on Grandpa Stan looks set to bring this London based trio the recognition they thoroughly deserve.

Be sure to catch this amazing band live in an intimate venue while you still can:

20 Jan 2010              Club Fandango @ 229       London

Future of The Left – Announce January UK Tour

Posted on 07 January 2010 by Emma

FUTURE OF THE LEFT
ANNOUNCE JANUARY UK TOUR

Future Of The Left announce further UK dates in support of their critically acclaimed album “Travels With Myself And Another”, which is the band’s last album for 4AD.
After releasing three albums with Too Pure/4AD as Mclusky and two as Future of the Left, the band have reached the end of a partnership with the label that began on Valentine’s Day 2001.

Future Of The Left are currently on a sold-out tour of Australia and New Zealand, following a busy 2009 which saw them featuring highly in the year-end polls, and playing a shedload of shows across Europe and the US.

The band are going into the studio in February to start work on their next album. Andy says “Travels was, after a difficult gestation period, an album that we are inordinately proud of. Before the process of starting each record I always say I want to write a pop album and then our personalities get in the way. This time I’m hoping to take the thing full circle and to channel the spirit of Freddie Mercury (nb. not Brian May) through Slayer’s backline.

Here are full dates for the UK Tour:

16th JAN – NEWCASTLE  – CLUNY
17th JAN – ABERDEEN – TUNNELS
18th JAN -  GLASGOW – KING TUTS
19th JAN -  MANCHESTER – RUBY LOUNGE
21st JAN – NOTTINGHAM – BODEGA
22nd JAN -  LEEDS – COCKPIT
23rd JAN -  SHEFFIELD – CORPORATION
28th JAN – CARDIFF- IFOR BACH
