Posted on 19 February 2010 by Emma

IMPERIAL LEISURE announce 2010 ALBUM RELEASE WARM UP TOUR

Featuring a stripped down band line-up
Showcasing new tracks
And generally raising a ruckus!

With plaudits from Imperial Leisure’s debut, The Art of Saying Nothing, still ringing in their ears and having rounded out 2009 supporting the likes of The King Blues. The are ready to set out on the road again with their new streamlined setup showcasing new tracks from their upcoming as yet untitled album that is set for release in summer 2010!

With IL original members Denis Smith on vocals, AJ White on guitar, Dan Dobson on bass, Scott Vining on drums, Stu Maxwell on keyboards and new boy Jerome Harper guesting on brass, the sound is leaner and meaner, whilst retaining the band’s trademark energy and intensely catchy songs.

The live set retains its truly distinctive British flavour that includes fan favourites and stand out tracks such as Radio One picks ‘In A Letter’, ‘Jenny’ and the skantastic ‘Man On The Street’. Other highlights include ‘The Beast’ and ‘The Landlord’s Daughter’ all delivered with the new line-up so expect a few extra twists as well as a cheeky peppering of new album tracks.

Imperial Leisure spent the last two years laying markers across the UK with memorable live performances that have created a fervent live fan base.  Selling out shows and playing at festivals across the UK including Glastonbury, Bestival, Reading, Lovebox, and Fruitstock to name but a few. Imperial Leisure are happy headlining, supporting or springing spontaneous gigs on unsuspecting but hugely appreciative crowds in shopping centres, parks, and on beaches around the UK; oh yeah and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Imperial Leisure has supported the likes of The King Blues, Less Than Jake, Roots Manuva, Gym Class Heroes, the legendary Sugar Hill Gang, Sway, YoungBlood Brass Band and Skinnyman.

With supporters across UK press, Radio 1, XFM, 6 Music and Kerrang Radio eagerly awaiting the new material, IL fans will be the first to hear new tracks on their forthcoming warm up tour before a triumphant launch into the UK’s consciousness this summer.

The Smoking Hearts – Announce UK Tour

Posted on 10 February 2010 by Emma

THE SMOKING HEARTS announce UK Tour
‘PRIDE OF NOWHERE’
Album to be released 8th March, 2010
www.myspace.com/smokinghearts

Download ‘George Street Wrestling’ for free here - http://tinyurl.com/smokingheartsDL

Lethal – Vocals  |  Barker – Guitars  |  Calvin – Bass  |  Nobba – Guitars  |  Matty – Drums

The Smoking Hearts will be stamping their mark on the British music scene on March 8th of 2010 with the release of debut album Pride Of Nowhere. The band has booked up a punk rock collection of dates around the record’s release. Storming out of rural England, The Smoking Hearts unleash a whirlwind combination of relentless punk rock and cutting rock’n’roll that is best experienced in the flesh so check out the full list of dates below.

Graceful is definitely not a word to describe The Smoking Hearts. Live shows have seen guitar headstocks smashed and drum kits sprawled across stages. It is not uncommon to find half the band on the floor with the crowd and, on occasion, half the crowd on stage with the band.

In their short career as a band, The Smoking Hearts have travelled thousands of miles, opening shows for the likes of Gallows, Bring Me The Horizon, Winnebago Deal and The Supersuckers, as well as some iconic acts such as Misfits and Skid Row.

Recorded on a farm in Bedfordshire with Nick Mailing (Quireboys/Trashlight Vision) and Mastered by Russ Russell (Napalm Death/The Wildhearts) over the course of just 14 days (and nights), ‘Pride of Nowhere’ clocks in at a frantic 29 minutes and 25 seconds. It is a record for many states of mind – these are songs that will inspire attitudes to party, drink, fight. But ultimately it is the anti-thesis of sitting around and letting things happen to you; it has everything to do with making life happen for yourself.

Operator Please – Release new single as free download

Posted on 09 February 2010 by Emma

OPERATOR PLEASE
NEW SINGLE – ‘LOGIC’ AVAILABLE March 8th 2010 ON 7″ AND DOWNLOAD

FREE DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE FROM WWW.OPERATORPLEASEBAND.COM

Operator Please returned home to Australia from a triumphant overseas stint in early 2008 which had seen them travel across the UK, Europe and Japan; their infectious, garage rock tunes proved to speak all languages.

While enjoying the (by comparison) holiday vibe of the Australian summer festival circuit, Operator Please started plotting the plan for their follow up release, beginning with the most intensive writing periods of their career to date.

Over the winter months of ‘09, Operator Please bunkered down at The Music Farm, a small studio in the isolated hills of Bangalow, Queensland. Engineer Justin Tressider was invited to the fold, with final touches and tweaks recorded in the living room of Amandah’s house.  Amandah & Tim from the band self -produced the album, with mixing help from long time No Doubt collaborators Jimmy Harry and Chris Fudurich. ‘Logic’, their new single, is the first offering from the album.

This new record shows all the stains of day after day stuck in vans, playing festivals such as Splendour in the Grass, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds Festival and The Secret Garden Party, touring and working with the likes of Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys and Lightspeed Champion.

It’s confident – less angsty, but more diverse – fully embracing their pop sensibility, proving that ‘pop’ can be a very dirty word in the hands of this hardened collective.

Tim and Amandah’s production has focused on teasing out a fuller sound for Operator Please, screwing with the garage-rock instrumentation of their debut album ‘Yes, Yes Vindictive’.  The rhythms have become more predominant, the violins enrich and the sound is balanced out by heavy synths,  big bass lines.

‘Logic’ the new single is the perfect mixture of nasty and nice – a combination the band always do well – that sees a hard hitting (think Janet Jackson shoulder-pop) verse, assertively punctuated by a shimmering, elevated chorus.

Operator Please are not (all) the fresh faced teens who burst onto the scene in 2007, and not just in way of literal age. You can hear the proof in the songwriting, you can see it on the stage and in 2010 you’ll be able to hold it in your hands.

Logic is available to download free from February 8th at www.operatorpleaseband.com

Fans will also be able to pre-order the forthcoming album including exclusive fan only merchandise and music.

CARDIFF PUNK BAND TO DONATE PROCEEDS OF NEW EP TO HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

Posted on 05 February 2010 by Emma

PUNK BAND TO DONATE PROCEEDS OF NEW EP TO HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL.

Cardiff based Punk-Rock band John Q Public are to donate the proceeds of their new EP release ‘Voices of Refusal’ to the Haiti Relief Fund.

The EP is to be released on the 8th February and will be available to download for free, whilst the band will be taking donations for the humanitarian effort in Haiti.

The new release will feature three brand new tracks taken from their upcoming 2010 album, along with a live version of an old favourite. The EP will be self-released, with backing from Go Steady Records.

To download the EP from the 8th February, please visit http://johnqpublic.bandcamp.com.

Please visit http://www.haitirelieffund.org/ and http://www.myspace.com/johnqpublic for more information about the fund and the band.

A short statement from John Q Public:
“With a disaster of this magnitude, for those of us in the UK, lucky enough to have money to spend on luxuries, we have a responsibility to help those affected by this horrendous earthquake. Haiti is one of the world’s poorest countries, and they are relying entirely on international aid to come through this unmitigated atrocity. The ‘Voices of Refusal EP’ is available for download as Pay What You Want, so people can pay as much (or as little) as they can afford to give, in return for not only some KICKIN’ punk rock tracks, but also the knowledge that your donation will go towards the biggest humanitarian relief cause in recent history. Anything we can send out there will be gratefully received by the hundreds of thousands of Haitians that have lost everything from their homes, possessions, and even their families.”

The new YOUNG GUNS single WINTER KISS is available as a free download from today!

Posted on 25 January 2010 by Emma

The new YOUNG GUNS single WINTER KISS is available as a free download from today!

Having toured the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Taking Back Sunday and Fightstar, as well as much talked about appearances at the Download, Sonisphere and Slam Dunk festivals, Young Guns‘ time spent on the road has set the band up as one of the most talked about unsigned UK bands of recent times. In addition, their relentless and faultless work ethic has helped the band build a solid fan-base foundation that they continue to build upon.

‘Winter Kiss’ is the first new material since the EP offered up by the band, who are currently on their fourth pressing of ‘Mirrors’, having already shifted 4,000+ copies and counting since June. As front-man Gustav Wood explains;“we wanted to release the new track as a free download-only single, because we wanted to give something back to those that have given us so much, it’s the least we could do after such a great year.”

“The song is a little darker than people might have expected from us, both thematically and sonically,” he continues. “We wanted to push ourselves a bit creatively and explore things like strings and piano that we hadn’t yet had time to. Without giving too much away, the song deals with the idea of feeling isolated, even if you may not actually be alone.”

The track has already received great response, claiming Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ spot before Christmas, as well as the Video Of The Week accolade on Kerrang TV! as well as topping the channel’s chart simultaneously.

Watch the video for the track here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5ciIFY5eQU&fmt=18
