NEW TRACK TO DOWNLOAD FOR FREE
MANCHESTER AND LONDON SHOWS THIS WEEK + RESCHEDULED MILES KANE SHOW IN LIVERPOOL

After finisghing their UK tour in support of Miles Kane, and after being picked by Noel Gallagher to support him at the Roudhouse back in October, new Manchester based six piece FOLKS have made new track “Skull and Bones” available as a fre download.

Get the track for free here: http://soundcloud.com/wearefolks/skull-and-bones

FOLKS have scheduled a few live dates before the end of the year, including a rescheduled show with Miles Kane in Liverpool:

Tue 22 Nov – Manchester, Deaf Institute

Wed 23 Nov – London, The Lexington

Thurs 1 Dec – Liverpool, Academy 1

Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks make music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over. The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson, and they relocated to the US to record what would end up being their debut album, to be released early 2012. On their return the duo pulled together a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd – keyboards and Elliot Barlow –drums) which ensured this group could also let rip live. They kept themselves busy in a rehearsal studio, out of the way, letting the tunes evolve into another side of Folks – one with absolute precision playing and amazing stage energy.

Produced by the Barbican, Amadou & Mariam, All Other Music and Because Music. Originally commissioned by Manchester International Festival July 2011

“ We want people to hear music as we do. To Imagine what it looks like”

Malian musical superstars Amadou & Mariam return to London for three unique performances: concerts staged entirely in the dark. York Hall in Bethnal Green will be completely blacked out allowing the audience to experience total darkness and a window into a different world of perception. It is a sensory exploration of life in Bamako and the day’s events will be told through narration, sounds, music and scents as the artists share their art and world.

Married for more than 25 years, Amadou & Mariam met in the orchestra of The Institute for the Young Blind in Bamako. Since then, their magical fusion of pop, blues and Malian music has won them fans and stellar collaborators around the world. Eclipse will tell the story of Amadou & Mariam’s life and work together, featuring songs from across their career including the premiere of tracks from their forthcoming album.
