The time has come again for another Slam Dunk Festival announcement! With less than 5 weeks until the 7^th annual Slam Dunk weekend, the line up is shaping to be a great success.

First to be announced in this next instalment is a band that everybody on the punk scene has been talking about since their reformed line up late 2011. That’s right, we’re proud to announce that Gallows will be making their first festival appearance at this year’s Slam Dunk festival! Playing for only the 3^rd time since their new frontman Wade MacNeil (former Alexisonfire guitarist/singer) joined the line up, Gallows are a band that everybody is dying to see! With the release of their EP ‘Death is Birth’, the five-piece will hit the stage with an undoubtedly mind-blowing set.

After seeing the demise of their friends The King Blues, we are delighted to see that UK ska punk heroes Capdown have come out of retirement for a second time to join us at Slam Dunk Festival this year. Bringing their energetic sounds back to the stage we look forward to see what the band have in store for us, but we can be very certain that it will be a killer show! 

Next to be announced are Random Hand another of the UK’s finest ska punk bands. After a potential break up in 2010, the band came back more determined than ever and toured throughout last year, also releasing their third album ‘Seething is Believing’. Celebrating their 10^th year as a band, we look forward to welcoming their ska-punk-metal mash up to the festival! 

Two other great punk rock bands to come out of the UK that are set to play the festival are, Sharks and Hildamay.  Both have received praise for their latest releases and being permanent fixtures on the live scene, these bands will be a highlight this year.

Already announced for Slam Dunk Wales, Straight Lines will also be joining us at the main weekend festival. With the release of their new album ‘Freaks Like Us’ a month before the festival, we look forward to hearing some new live tracks from the band at all of their Slam Dunk dates!

Tim Landers will be making two appearances this year as we are pleased to announce that Misser is playing at the festival. Made up of members from Transit and This Time Next Year, the duo released their incredible EP ‘Problems. Problems. Problems.’ at the end of last year. 

Also keen to support fresh and upcoming talent, Slam Dunk have got Acoda and Our Time Down Here joining the line up.  

Attack! Attack!/Dopamine frontman Neil Starr will be playing his new solo material on the acoustic stage.

The band’s second album, ‘Union City Breath’, was released in October last year. Much like its predecessor, ‘Born To Ruin’, it has been very well received nationwide and throughout mainland Europe by fans and critics alike. Produced and engineered by Peter Miles (The King Blues, The Computers, Sonic Boom Six), the album is a triumph of punk rock energy, alt. country vitality and rabble-rousing honesty.

Not easy to categorise, and all the better for it, Crazy Arm’s sound is an accumulation of decades of influence and inspiration: rooted in hardcore/punk, ‘60s protest folk/country and Springsteen-esque classic rock’n’roll. They combine this with a grass-roots political overview that embraces anti-war, anti-fascist and pro-community activism.

Fast-rising Brighton quartet Fighting Fiction release their eponymous self-titled debut album and new single ‘Turning Rebellion into Money’ through Xtra Mile Recordings on 27^th February 2012.

An infectious punk rock record, ‘Fighting Fiction’ is full of politically charged articulate lyrics, powerful driving rhythms and catchy refrains. Featuring the single ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll is Dead and its Corpse is for Sale’ – which received strong support from fan Radio 1’s Mike Davies – all ten tracks pack a powerful punch, hitting you the head as well as the heart. Recorded and produced by friend and highly credited producer Mark Williams, (Oceansize, Million Dead, Yourcodenameis:milo, Biffy Clyro & Enter Shikari) ‘Fighting Fiction’ perfectly captures the band’s honesty, integrity and knack for writing a great pop punk song.

With a DIY approach, their keen touring ethic has seen them play alongside Frank Turner, This Town Needs Guns, The Riot Before, The Xcerts, Laura Marling and Crazy Arm; as well as festival appearances at The Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival, The Isle of Man TT, The Isle of Wight and 2000Trees.

With support coming in thick and fast from all corners of the industry the band are set for a fantastic 2012. Ones to watch!
