Subsource announce live dates!
Album ‘Tales From The Doombox’ released April 5th, 2010

(Doombox Records)

THE IDES MUSIC VIDEO – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2viIoB4JTU

SUBSOURCE SAY – “Four years ago, 20 miles south of central London, four people went into a studio to start a war.  Fucked off with so-called live dance acts mincing behind laptops, and rock acts with no more substance than the product in their hair we decided things had to change.

The snarl of Punk, the oscillating sub bass of dubstep, the harrowing melody of coldwave all had to be in there with as much of electronica’s glitches and edits, hip-hop’s flows, the galloping ferocity of drum’n’bass and metal as possible. No subgenre’s safe from the “treatment.”  The vivisection becomes complete when firing up the live beast. Amalgamated from double bass, synths, drums, guitars, and vocals, like an amphetamised Rottweiler running riot through a free warehouse party, tearing holes in speaker cones, our live shows leave saucer eyed audiences writhing in sweat-drenched ecstasy.

This is not a war of conflict but a war of unification.  Ravers throw shapes, as Rockers bang heads, and Rude Bois throw their hands in the air. Subsource are a Beat and Bass driven Rock act representing the underground UK dance music scene.  No treaty will be signed and the occupation will be total.”

Following October’s release of crowd favourite ‘The Reason (Parasite)’, Subsource’s electro, metal and unique take on dubstep (Substep anyone?) influences come to the fore on the socially charged track ‘The Ides’. This single will be released on 29th March with album ‘Tales From The Doombox’ set for release on 5th April. This ethos flows into the band’s art with the album cover for ‘Tales From The Doombox’ being a piece by street artist Faith47, who’s been dubbed the ‘South African Banksy’. The cover’s inscription statement of ‘build you up to tear us down’ reflects the nature of a self sufficient band who have fashioned lyrical paeans to the true accounts of island tribes fighting off oil companies. But it’s not all work and no play. A nod to their dance roots inspired them to create the Subsource iPhone rave app, complete with flashing glow stick and lighter, not that you’ll find many tender moments in a Subsource live set…

Catch the band’s exuberant live show at the following dates –

11th March – Hoxton Underbelly, London Onstage 9pm

12th March – Queen of Hoxton, London  16th March – Monarch, Camden, London Onstage 8.30pm 22nd – Water Rats, London Onstage 9pm 27th March – Wonka, Monkey Bar, Swansea 17th April – The Brickyard, Carlisle  19th June – Globe Theatre – Hay on Wye  25th September – The Big Noise, Swansea

PENDULUM – Announce details of new single “Watercolour” taken from upcoming album “Immersion”

Posted on 08 March 2010 by Emma

PENDULUM
Present first taster of new album ‘Immersion’ with the May 3rd release of new single ‘Watercolour

PENDULUM made one of the biggest breakthroughs of recent years with their hit album In Silico’. Having sold over 1 million records worldwide, the band completed a sell-out Academy tour in 2008 and went on to smash the international festival circuit last summer with killer appearances at GLASTONBURY, DOWNLOAD, V and GLOBAL GATHERING to name a few. Both Pendulum studio albums to date – In Silico’and the band’s debut Hold Your Colour’ – have gone Platinum.

Now they’re back with their most visceral and enthralling work with the album Immersion that’s set for release on May 24th. The first taster of the album will be the single Watercolour that’s due for release on May 3rd.

Watercolour heralds a glorious evolution in the Pendulum sound. Now utilising a richer sonic tapestry than ever before, the sublimeWatercolourfinds Rob Swire’s vocals alternating between eerie distortion and full-blooded energy amidst flourishes of horns and an atmospheric, tension building breakdown. The track’s progressive structure highlight’s Pendulum’s growing strength in constructing contrasting dynamics.

Please enjoy this refreshing musical beverage, bottled at source from the sparkling clear streams of Camden (and Perth, Australia). What better way to start your immersive experience?”

(Rob Swire, Pendulum)

Already one of the most anticipated albums of 2010, the excitement building around Immersionescalated following Pendulum’s exclusive album preview DJ set at their EAR STORM night at London’s Matter in January. The set was streamed live to an audience of 200,000, with a total of 350,000 people interacting with the content on the day.

Pendulum take their brand new headline show bursting with new material around the UK and IRELAND this summer. The tour includes a landmark show at London’s WEMBLEY ARENA and features support from SUB FOCUS (live):

In their first incarnation, donning polka dot dresses and referencing the girl groups of the late fifties in the heyday of skinny tie indie music, The Pipettes had remarkable success. A top ten album in Japan where the single ‘Pull Shapes’ was only kept off the number one spot by J-Lo, top ten radio positions all across Europe, two Top Forty hits in the UK and a Top Ten in the US billboard indies.

They played on the main stages at Reading and Glastonbury, blazed a British trail across SXSW, conquered the world and sold a heap of records. Since then they’ve been working on their new album ‘Earth vs The Pipettes’ with legendary Martin Rushent, the semi-retired producer of The Stranglers, Shirley Bassey, and, most famously, the Human League’s ‘Dare’.

White Belt Yellow Tag

(DISTILLER RECORDS)

www.myspace.com/whitebeltyellowtag | www.www.distiller-records.com

White Belt Yellow Tag have announced details of the release of debut album, Methods, out on Monday April 5th 2010 through Distiller Records. Self-produced and mixed by Chris Potter (The Verve, Blur), the 12-track album was recorded in South Yorkshire in the summer of 2009.

The album will be preceded by a single Always & Echoes’, which is set for release on March 29th. The single also features the tracks ‘Postcards’, ‘You Have No Friends’ and ‘We All Have Sound (Rhysmix Vs Wahs mix)’.

Having already bagged some impressive radio and press support (record of the week slots on 6 music, Zane Lowe support) off the back of 3 EPs in the second half of 2009, their debut album is the perfect snap-shot of White Belt Yellow Tag. Wide-screen and far-reaching, the 12 tracks span a sound ranging from the slow grind of Slint to the euphoria of Doves to the icy grandeur of prime-time Bunnymen.

The three-piece, made up of Justin Lockey, (ex Yourcodenameis:Milo), Craig Pilbin & Tom Bellamy came together at the start of 2009 when Lockey and Pilbin met in a studio in Newcastle. The last 12-months have seen the band tour extensively (most recently in support of The Airborne Toxic Event) and develop a fearsome live reputation.

Third Eye Blind – Add second London show due to phenomenal demand….New Album April 2010

Posted on 04 March 2010 by Emma

European Tour May 2010 – Extra UK Date Added
Single: “Don’t Believe A Word”
Release date: 10th May 2010
Album: ‘Ursa Major’
Release date: April 12th 2010

Due to phenomenal demand – their first UK show selling out – Third Eye Blind have added a  second UK headline date in May 2010. The band are also set to release their first album in over six years on April 12th 2010 through Mega Collider Records, followed by a single “Don’t Believe A Word” on the 10th May 2010.

The “Ursa Major” album has already been released in the USA to widespread critical and commercial acclaim. Charting at No 1 in the Billboard Alternative charts and a career best No 3 in the Billboard top 100. The Associated Press hailed the album as “a musical gem” and “a fine line between aggression and a deft pop sensibility…Jenkins’ lyrics juxtapose poetry with profanity, anger with longing and big world issues with the personal…”

Between 2007 and 2009 the band performed before a remarkable 1 million people. Pure and authentic, a canon of songs with no media coverage or radio play have compelled a new generation of followers by organic word of mouth alone.  Fans attached themselves to songs like “Slow Motion” and “Motorcycle Drive By,” the former of which was censored by their record company but began appearing on file-sharing sites with full lyrics, and is now hailed as a masterpiece being covered by countless other bands.

“Now is a much better time for us. Technology has democratized our ability to make and distribute music straight to fans, and the perception of the band has changed radically,” says Stephan Jenkins, who is happily releasing this album through the band’s own label, Mega Collider Records.  “People have been trading our songs over the years.  Third Eye Blind became a playlist; this is a completely fan-based thing, complete with those little chunks you get in homemade apple cider.”

Emotional, ironic, reflective, aggressive, and sometimes outwardly political, Ursa Major features some of the most intense music of Third Eye Blind’s career.  Jenkins backs up what he sings, having spent most of 2008 on the campaign trail lecturing colleges on behalf of President Obama and writing regularly about “taking progressives to task for not standing up for themselves” appearing on Air America and working on extreme poverty issues with the organization ‘True Meaning’.

Third Eye Blind blasted out of San Francisco when “Semi-Charmed Life” went to # 1 at Modern Rock and their self-titled album sold 6 million copies worldwide in 1997. This debut album contained several other chart-topping singles such as “Jumper,” “How’s It Going To Be,” “Graduate” and others cementing the band’s place in music history. The unique combination of brutal and controversial lyrics mixed with infectious melodies made an indelible connection with fans – it’s a phenomenon that defines Third Eye Blind and has made them the most requested band on college campuses going on three years now. Yes, this band’s audience keeps getting younger. The band’s song “Jumper” was recently used in Jim Carrey’s movie Yes Man and regularly sells over 5,000 singles a week, 10 years after its release.

Third Eye Blind are an established live draw. The band are set to tour Europe in May 2010 – the dates are as follows

Wednesday 5th May 2010                       Trix Club, Antwerp (Belgium)

Thursday 6th May 2010                          Elysee Montmartre, Paris (France)

Saturday 8th May 2010                           Melkweg, Amsterdam (Holland)

Sunday 9th May 2010                                              Luxor, Koln (Germany)

Monday 11th May 2010                          Pumpeshuset, Copenhagen (Denmark)

Thursday 13th May 2010                        O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London (UK) SOLD OUT

Saturday 15th May 2010                         The Forum, London (UK) EXTRA DATE ADDED

JAGUAR LOVE – New album UK release details

Posted on 03 March 2010 by Emma

JAGUAR LOVE
Hologram Jams
New album to be released 26th April
(Fat Possum Records)

www.wearejaguarlove.comwww.twitter.com/jaguarlovebandwww.myspace.com/jaguarloveband

Blood Brothers may have betrayed their blood oath by breaking up, but the spirit of that raucous Seattle act lives on in Jaguar Love. Despite being mainly based in Seattle and Portland, the duo basically live on the road and have played live with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age (Rob Pope of Spoon played based for JAGUAR LOVE on a recent tour), TV on the Radio and more.

‘Hologram Jams’  is the first Jaguar Love album to feature the band’s stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up two-piece line up of Johnny Whitney (Vocals, keys, drum machines) and Cody Votolato (Guitars, vocals, drum machines), both formerly of the late, lamented Blood Brothers. “Cody and I have always had a strong bond, both creatively and as friends – and working on this album together was the most productive, free flow of ideas I have ever been a part of,” said Whitney.

During their short career so far the band’s inimitable sound has inspired the folks at Matador Records, who signed one album and an EP, as well as Fat Possum, who have now signed them to a worldwide deal.

Sophomore full-length ‘Hologram Jams’ reunited Cody and Johnny with producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Los Campesinos!, Death Cab For Cutie), who also produced Blood Brothers’ 100,000+ selling ‘Crimes’ and co-produced the subsequent ‘Young Machetes’ with Guy Picciotto of Fugazi fame. Goodmanson co-produced with Votolato and Whitney on this one too and the resulting sound combines soulful howls colliding with and coursing over relentless dance beats and heavy glam guitars. Hologram Jams is bursting with hooks.

Whilst there are no finalized plans for Jaguar Love to stalk music-loving prey on the road over here right now, the band promises “endless amounts of touring” so watch this space.

Jack Rabbit Slim – New album ‘Hairdo’s & Heartaches’

Posted on 02 March 2010 by Emma

Jack Rabbit Slim

“Hairdo’s & Heartaches”

Released: April 19th

Label:  Western Star Records

Available via iTunes and all major download sites and direct from www.western-star.co.uk

www.myspace.com/jackrabbitslimuk

Album track ‘The Gift’ has received airplay on Bob Harris’ Radio 2 show, and Geoff Barker has played album tracks on his regional BBC ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll party’ show. The band recently played a live session for BBC Cambridgeshire.

Jack Rabbit Slim are a band that have been not only hailed as a leading light in the Rockabilly world, but are making many friends and fans in other more mainstream markets. Based in Herts, Northampton, Birmingham and Beds, Jack Rabbit Slim is made up singer/songwriter Bob Butfoy, drummer Paul Saunders, guitarist Darren Lince and bassist Landon Filer.

Formed in 2004 by Bob Butfoy, the band teamed up with producer Alan Wilson of the Western Star Recording Co. Their resulting debut album “Sinuendo”, released in 2005 on Western Star Records, was a big seller and the band gigged and promoted the album relentlessly to rave reviews. The year also saw the band secure a support slot with Big Sandy & The Flyrite Boys.

By 2007 Jack Rabbit Slim had established themselves worldwide as a scene leader and their second album “Sleaze-a-Billy” (Western Star Records) won them an award for ‘outstanding sales’ from their label. “Sleaze-a-Billy” received further success with national airplay on BBC Radio 2, a mention in the Daily Telegraph and a spot in an ITV4 television documentary. The year also saw Jack Rabbit Slim reach the heady heights of the Jack Daniels Corp boardroom. The band were contacted & politely asked to delete their then popular logo, due to its similarity to the famed J.D brand!

In 2008 the band’s third album “From The Waist Down” (Western Star Records) was voted album of the year by readers of Viva le Punk, beating off stiff opposition from the likes of The Dammed & Goldblade. 2009 saw the band touring the USA West Coast, with a notable appearance at Viva Las Vegas.

2010 sees the release of Jack Rabbit Slim’s new album “Hairdo’s & Heartaches” (Western Star Records). Both the band themselves and their record label agree that this is the best album to date. High sales are expected.

High profile fans of the band include cult DJ Keb Darge (who has championed Jack Rabbit Slim for years) and sexy TV Chef Gizzi Erskine (who listed Jack Rabbit Slim as one of her favourites in a recent high profile article in award winning ladies glossy magazine Marie Claire).

Jack Rabbit Slim will be showcasing the album throughout 2010 across the UK and Europe, with a series of gigs including:

The Xcerts begin work on 2nd album with Mike Sapone

Posted on 24 February 2010 by Emma

THE XCERTS
To be the first UK band to be produced by Mike Sapone (Crime in Stereo, Brand New, Public Enemy…)

THE XCERTS have already kicked 2010 off in style supporting the incredible Fightstar. Later this week they will be heading off to the U.S. to begin work on the follow up to 2009’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’. Their as-yet-untitled second record will see Long Island based producer Mike Sapone at the helm. Sapone has an impressive track record and has produced records for the likes of Crime in Stereo, Public Enemy and Brand New.

Initial talks about the possibility of Mike Sapone working with The Xcerts came about due to lead singer/guitarist Murray MacLeod’s love for the bands that Sapone has previously worked with. MacLeod said “Mike has produced some of our favourite records and creates unique sounding albums. We are honoured to be the first UK band that he will have produced. To say we are excited is an understatement… We cannot wait for you to hear this record.”

The Xcerts forthcoming album will be released on Xtra Mile Recordings later this year and you can expect to hear the first fruits of their labour in late spring/early summer.
