HAWK EYES are from Leeds, Englandshire. They consist of Paul Astick (vocals / guitar), Rob Stephens (guitar), Ryan Clark (bass) and Steve Wilson (drums)

One of those previous so-called ‘forms’ was Chickenhawk, whose gruesomely complex ‘Modern Bodies’ album of 2010 cheerily brutalised a not-so-innocent generation of grumpy grunged-up kids as they toured the known universe with Alexisonfire, We Are The Ocean and The Computers. Unfortunately all this cheery brutalisation came at a cost – a good doctor told singer Paul that his traumatic vocal stylings were doing unspeakable damage to his throat. He had to calm it down or get the heck off the back of the rock bus. So he calmed down. Relatively speaking.

The end of 2011 saw the renamed and reconstructed HAWK EYES foursome setting out their stall for future ever-so-slightly-mellower chaos with a nomination for Best Hard Rock Act at the Artrocker awards, touring fun with Turbowolf, The James Cleaver Quartet and Ginger Wildheart (though not all at the same time, you understand) and the release of the five-track ‘Mindhammers’ EP on Brew Records, a manically precise fusion of ferocious melodies and vivacious riffs which spewed forth comparisons with Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Alice In Chains and the epically heavy monstersound of Faith No More.

All extremely true, and all very indicative of a band growing up and rolling with the melodic punches. And the ‘Mindhammers’ template was refined and rewired on ‘Ideas’, HAWK EYES’ debut album which is sleek and modern and hardcore and suitably post-post-everything, but also cosmic and mischievous and never averse to (ab)using a classic riff here or there. The UK music press heaped praise on the album with Kerrang, Artrocker and Big Cheese Magazine all awarding ‘Ideas’ 5/5.

This led to the band being asked to join the one and only Andrew WK on his recent UK tour while Kerrang continued to show their support by nominating Hawk Eyes for best new band at the upcoming Kerrang Awards.

Announces UK Dates in June – including Download Festival
Album: 100%
Release date: 4th June 2012

Taken from his PledgeMusic album “555%”
The most successful Direct To Fan / Fan Funded release through any DTF platform in the world – raising over $260,000

Ginger Wildheart remains one of the of the UK’s most prolific singer/songwriter/guitarists. Best known through his work with The Wildhearts, Ginger Wildheart has spent the last twenty years writing and recording some of Britains best rock music and building a fanatical following…

In mid 2011 Ginger Wildheart approached various labels with a typically ambitious triple album project. Unable to gain any interest from labels or distributers to fund the album, Ginger Wildheart turned to Direct to Fan platform PledgeMusic, which allowed him to work directly with fans to create the album, bypassing the traditional methods of recording and releasing music.

The campaign can be seen here www.pledgemusic.com/projects/gingerwildheart

The target that was set was beaten in 6 hours, and doubled in 24 hours. 6 months later and Ginger Wildheart has completed 30 songs, and the total stands at over 560%! This has been the biggest direct to fan/fan funded album release through any of the DTF platforms (Kickstarter, PledgeMusic, Indiegogo etc..) in the WORLD. EVER. The campaign has raised over $260,000 before the campaign was closed

Ginger Wildheart made a direct connection with his fanbase and has proved , in this time of doom and gloom in the music industry, that there is an attractive alternative to making records that doesn’t involve the label system of borrowing money, getting in debt and struggling to recoup. This process allows bands to engage with their fans. It also allows fans to getting excited about (and feel involved in) an artists new record.

The PledgeMusic triple album – aptly tilted 555% – was played to Pledgers in three weekly instalments during March 2012. The Twitter listening parties took place at 5.55pm every Friday and each week the tag #Ginger555 became the highest trending topic on Twitter in the UK. The Pledgers then voted on their favourite tracks and from those votes the 12 tracks that make up “100%” (the commercial album due for general release in June) were chosen.

The tracklisting for 100% is as follows

1. Forget About It
2. Internal Radio
3. Lover It’ll all Work Out
4. You’re The One, You’re The One, Yeah, I Know You’re The One, You’re The One (Yeah, I Know You’re The One)
5. It Appears That The Party Is Over
6. Taste Aversion
7. Another Spinning Fucking Rainbow
8. Just Another Song About Someone
9. Westward Ho! (A New Reputation)
10. Beautifully, Blissfully Unsettled
11. We’ve Been Expecting You
12 Time

The album features artwork by the legendary Terry Pastor (Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust)

All Or Nothing - Featuring New Singer Zoli Teglas Out April 30th

Rebellious SoCal punks Pennywise are back and in your face with a knock out new record, All Or Nothing, featuring a new singer and twelve hard hitting tracks that will please both new converts and diehard fans alike. The band has delivered their most powerful and heartfelt album to date, and in anticipation of the upcoming release, Pennywise are streaming the new record in its entirety beginning today.

Fans can stream the album by going to: http://soundcloud.com/epitaph-records/sets/pennywise-all-or-nothing

After the departure of longtime singer Jim Lindberg, the storied band has risen from the ashes more energized and defiant than ever. Featuring new lead vocalist Zoli Teglas from the Orange County hardcore band, Ignite, All Or Nothing is a reinvigorated masterwork of the band’s state of the art sing-along melodic punk.

“I’m so stoked to be singing with Pennywise,” says Zoli. I’m a huge fan of this band and am super grateful to be sharing the stage with my longtime friends Fletcher, Byron and Randy and singing these songs.”

Formed in the South Bay of Los Angeles, a neighborhood with a rich punk rock history, Pennywise began in 1988. The band would go on to amass an international following through relentless touring and a melodic high energy sound merging melodic surf punk, blistering hardcore and the classic punk of their youth. The group has solidified their place in punk history with songs like the raging “Fuck Authority,” “Alien” and the band’s now legendary ode to brotherhood and departed friends “Bro Hymn.”

The album is currently available for pre-order atKingsroadmerch.eu and Kingsroadmerch.co.uk and will be released everywhere on April 30th.
