Third Eye Blind – Add second London show due to phenomenal demand….New Album April 2010

Posted on 04 March 2010 by Emma

European Tour May 2010 – Extra UK Date Added
Single: “Don’t Believe A Word”
Release date: 10th May 2010
Album: ‘Ursa Major’
Release date: April 12th 2010

Due to phenomenal demand – their first UK show selling out – Third Eye Blind have added a  second UK headline date in May 2010. The band are also set to release their first album in over six years on April 12th 2010 through Mega Collider Records, followed by a single “Don’t Believe A Word” on the 10th May 2010.

The “Ursa Major” album has already been released in the USA to widespread critical and commercial acclaim. Charting at No 1 in the Billboard Alternative charts and a career best No 3 in the Billboard top 100. The Associated Press hailed the album as “a musical gem” and “a fine line between aggression and a deft pop sensibility…Jenkins’ lyrics juxtapose poetry with profanity, anger with longing and big world issues with the personal…”

Between 2007 and 2009 the band performed before a remarkable 1 million people. Pure and authentic, a canon of songs with no media coverage or radio play have compelled a new generation of followers by organic word of mouth alone.  Fans attached themselves to songs like “Slow Motion” and “Motorcycle Drive By,” the former of which was censored by their record company but began appearing on file-sharing sites with full lyrics, and is now hailed as a masterpiece being covered by countless other bands.

“Now is a much better time for us. Technology has democratized our ability to make and distribute music straight to fans, and the perception of the band has changed radically,” says Stephan Jenkins, who is happily releasing this album through the band’s own label, Mega Collider Records.  “People have been trading our songs over the years.  Third Eye Blind became a playlist; this is a completely fan-based thing, complete with those little chunks you get in homemade apple cider.”

Emotional, ironic, reflective, aggressive, and sometimes outwardly political, Ursa Major features some of the most intense music of Third Eye Blind’s career.  Jenkins backs up what he sings, having spent most of 2008 on the campaign trail lecturing colleges on behalf of President Obama and writing regularly about “taking progressives to task for not standing up for themselves” appearing on Air America and working on extreme poverty issues with the organization ‘True Meaning’.

Third Eye Blind blasted out of San Francisco when “Semi-Charmed Life” went to # 1 at Modern Rock and their self-titled album sold 6 million copies worldwide in 1997. This debut album contained several other chart-topping singles such as “Jumper,” “How’s It Going To Be,” “Graduate” and others cementing the band’s place in music history. The unique combination of brutal and controversial lyrics mixed with infectious melodies made an indelible connection with fans – it’s a phenomenon that defines Third Eye Blind and has made them the most requested band on college campuses going on three years now. Yes, this band’s audience keeps getting younger. The band’s song “Jumper” was recently used in Jim Carrey’s movie Yes Man and regularly sells over 5,000 singles a week, 10 years after its release.

Third Eye Blind are an established live draw. The band are set to tour Europe in May 2010 – the dates are as follows

SUBSOURCE – New music video, single and album

Posted on 01 March 2010 by Emma

SUBSOURCE
Album ‘Tales From The Doombox’ released April 5th, 2010
Single ‘The Ides’ released March 29th, 2010

(Doombox Records)

THE IDES MUSIC VIDEO – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2viIoB4JTU

www.myspace.com/subsourcewww.twitter.com/subsource

SUBSOURCE SAY – “Four years ago, 20 miles south of central London, four people went into a studio to start a war.  Fucked off with so-called live dance acts mincing behind laptops, and rock acts with no more substance than the product in their hair we decided things had to change.

The snarl of Punk, the oscillating sub bass of dubstep, the harrowing melody of coldwave all had to be in there with as much of electronica’s glitches and edits, hip-hop’s flows, the galloping ferocity of drum’n’bass and metal as possible. No subgenre’s safe from the “treatment.”  The vivisection becomes complete when firing up the live beast. Amalgamated from double bass, synths, drums, guitars, and vocals, like an amphetamised Rottweiler running riot through a free warehouse party, tearing holes in speaker cones, our live shows leave saucer eyed audiences writhing in sweat-drenched ecstasy.

This is not a war of conflict but a war of unification.  Ravers throw shapes, as Rockers bang heads, and Rude Bois throw their hands in the air. Subsource are a Beat and Bass driven Rock act representing the underground UK dance music scene.  No treaty will be signed and the occupation will be total.”

It’s no surprise that a band with a CV as connected as a nuclear power station is starting to turn a few heads. Studio sessions with The Prodigy and Akil from Jurassic 5, mosh-pit forming shows at 15 summer festivals in 2009 and sold out gigs in Berlin and Paris prompted support from the media as diverse as Metal Hammer, Eddy Temple Morris, BBC, LTD Magazine, Radio 1’s Nihal and The Metro newspaper. Media almost as diverse as the band themselves: a Cambridge educated British-Chinese science prodigy, a Norwegian born multi instrumentalist, a nu-skool breaks double bass player, a DnB drummer and occasional killer guest MC Malawian hip hop star Kimba Mutanda.

Following October’s release of crowd favourite ‘The Reason (Parasite)’, Subsource’s electro, metal and unique take on dubstep (Substep anyone?) influences come to the fore on the socially charged track ‘The Ides’. This single will be released on 29th March with album ‘Tales From The Doombox’ set for release on 5th April. This ethos flows into the band’s art with the album cover for ‘Tales From The Doombox’ being a piece by street artist Faith47, who’s been dubbed the ‘South African Banksy’. The cover’s inscription statement of ‘build you up to tear us down’ reflects the nature of a self sufficient band who have fashioned lyrical paeans to the true accounts of island tribes fighting off oil companies. But it’s not all work and no play. A nod to their dance roots inspired them to create the Subsource iPhone rave app, complete with flashing glow stick and lighter, not that you’ll find many tender moments in a Subsource live set…

Sound of Guns – Announce ‘Alcatraz’ single and tour!!

Posted on 18 February 2010 by Emma

Sound of Guns release single ‘Alcatraz’ on March 8th, 2010
UK Headline Tour in March
(Distiller Records)

www.myspace.com/soundofguns

Sound of Guns release their new single ‘Alcatraz’ on March 8th through Distiller Records.  The single will be available on 7” and digital download and is the first track to be released from their forthcoming debut album, which will be out later this year.  The band have been busy in the studio with the renowned producer/mixer Chris Potter (Verve / U2) who has mixed the single. They also recently completed a string of dates supporting Adam Green with audiences lapping up their performances.

Sound Of Guns are from Liverpool but don’t have the usual sound associated with the city.  They have chosen anthemic power chords over jangly guitars and riotous gang vocals over quirky lyricism- an experience of epic proportions.

Having broken through the ranks via BBC Introducing last year, the band have had many highlights  including playing at Radio One’s Big Weekend, a main stage performance at Latitude festival and 4 performances at Glastonbury festival. They rounded off the year with a show at the inaugural Sound City festival in Dubai and opening Liverpool’s Music Week.

Their debut EP ‘Elementary of Youth’ was Zane Lowe’s ‘hottest record in the world’ on his Radio One show and they have been tipped for great things from the likes of Q, The Guardian, Rocksound and The Fly. Steve Lamacq also featured them as his favourite new band on his 6music show.

Sound of Guns will be playing the following:

Eight Legs – Album And UK Tour

Posted on 15 February 2010 by Emma

EIGHT LEGS
‘The Electric Kool-Aid Cuckoo Nest’ out on 22 February on Boot Legs
UK TOUR

The Electric Kool-Aid Cuckoo Nest‘ will be released on Monday 22nd February 2010 on the bands’ own Boot Legs label.

NME once described Eight Legs as “the Musical equivalent of Christiano Ronaldo, Eight Legs are young, sexy and you can’t help liking them”. A fast and furious quote for a band making the musical equivalent  – danceable, energy fuelled blasts of fun.

Let’s not get too distracted by great tunes and declarations of sexiness though. For beneath the totally cool and accessible exterior lies a bunch of sharp and savvy individuals. The rather tongue-tying album title you see above is an amalgamation of Tom Wolfe’s 1968 literary work ‘The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test’ and the classic 1962 novel ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’; the author of which – Ken Kessey – inspired the former piece of work with his wayward adventures and LSD experimentation.

An interest in drugs and the human condition fills ‘The Electric Kool-Aid Cuckoo Nest’, alongside musings on love, life and the various frustrations of growing-up in a seemingly unexciting generation, it brims with social commentary that is poetically charming in its beating heart honesty and youthful naivety, while simultaneously throwing out stabbing shards of insightfulness and raw awareness.

Musically it’s undoubtedly infectious, all twelve of its eclectic tunes linked in their Eight Legs signature of throbbing skyrocketing choruses and rip-roaring guitar, slightly raw and rough around the edges keeping it just the right side of pop-punk.

Forming in 2006 the band had overnight success rare for such newcomers. Creative Director Heidi Slimane personally handpicked them to soundtrack Dior Homme’s Paris fashion show that year, following in the footsteps of Razorlight and Beck to name a few. The track used ‘These Grey Days’ (from the bands debut) was also picked up by ad men with a good ear and is presently blasting from your TV on the ‘Boys Night Out’ anti-binge drinking campaign.

While other bands might have rested on their laurels, Eight Legs busied themselves setting up their own label Boot Legs, proudly established by cash earned from the above accolades and their incredible European success.

The album is preceded by the single ‘Best of Me‘, out on Monday 15th February. Watch the video here:

The new YOUNG GUNS single WINTER KISS is available as a free download from today!

Posted on 25 January 2010 by Emma

The new YOUNG GUNS single WINTER KISS is available as a free download from today!

Having toured the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Taking Back Sunday and Fightstar, as well as much talked about appearances at the Download, Sonisphere and Slam Dunk festivals, Young Guns‘ time spent on the road has set the band up as one of the most talked about unsigned UK bands of recent times. In addition, their relentless and faultless work ethic has helped the band build a solid fan-base foundation that they continue to build upon.

‘Winter Kiss’ is the first new material since the EP offered up by the band, who are currently on their fourth pressing of ‘Mirrors’, having already shifted 4,000+ copies and counting since June. As front-man Gustav Wood explains;“we wanted to release the new track as a free download-only single, because we wanted to give something back to those that have given us so much, it’s the least we could do after such a great year.”

“The song is a little darker than people might have expected from us, both thematically and sonically,” he continues. “We wanted to push ourselves a bit creatively and explore things like strings and piano that we hadn’t yet had time to. Without giving too much away, the song deals with the idea of feeling isolated, even if you may not actually be alone.”

The track has already received great response, claiming Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ spot before Christmas, as well as the Video Of The Week accolade on Kerrang TV! as well as topping the channel’s chart simultaneously.

TWIN ATLANTIC – Announce rescheduled headline dates and sell out massive hometown show!

Posted on 19 January 2010 by Emma

TWIN ATLANTIC set to release ‘Lightspeed’ as a single on Monday 1st March 2010. Rescheduled UK headline dates announced, including their sell-out biggest headline show to date!

Having caused quite the stir with their ‘Vivarium’ mini-album and subsequent singles ‘You’re Turning Into John Wayne’ and ‘What Is Light?

Where Is Laughter?’, Glaswegian quartet Twin Atlantic are set to release new single ‘Lightspeed’ on Monday 1st March. A video for the track, shot in the Salton Sea in the desert of California, can be seen by visiting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3njDN2UpRfY&fmt=18

A previously announced headline tour has seen some changes, as a result of the band’s late inclusion on the Enter Shikari European tour some dates have had to be rescheduled. The revised dates in full, are below. Original tickets for all dates marked with an asterisk will remain valid for the new dates. Their massive hometown show at the ABC in Glasgow (1250 cap) has already sold out in advance.

Frontman, Sam McTrusty, is elated with the news. I think being a band for two and half years and selling 1250 tickets 3 weeks before the show speaks volumes. The future of this band is very exciting right now and this is just the beginning.”
