‘Days’ is the third single to be taken from The Drums’ second album ‘Portamento’. Standing out for its sparse thorny guitar, foreboding harmonies and crest-fallen sentiment, the track perfectly showcases The Drums’ knack for making the melancholy feel so alluring and cathartic.

The Drums’ frontman Jonny Pierce explains, “When I wrote and recorded it I thought it might be just another heartbreak song, but when I listened back to it I saw it was more than that. It was a reaction to years of trying to make things work one way and then having a breakthrough and realizing sometimes you have to start over completely from scratch to be at peace with yourself. “

The single’s release date of February 27th 2012 also sees The Drums headline an NME Awards Show at London’s Roundhouseas part of a short UK tour. Support will come from Spector.

Prior to these dates, the band will be heading to Australia and Singapore for the Laneway Festival and two shows in Melbourne and Sydney with Cults.

Full 2012 UK tour dates:

February 26: Liverpool, Academy 2
February 27: London, Roundhouse (NME Awards Show)
February 28: Oxford, Academy 2

See The Drums perform an acoustic version of Days, as well as a few other tracks, at a secret last minute set in East London just before Christmas: http://bit.ly/x5sTtE

CRAZY ARM
MARCH MINI-TOUR 2012
Devonian roots-punk ensemble, Crazy Arm, embark on a short UK stint ‘The Leap Of Faith tour’ in March alongside good friends, Apologies I Have None and Great Cynics. They also hook up with Indiana US country singer, Austin Lucas, for a couple of shows, with Crazy Arm appearing as Austin’s backing band on a number of songs.

The band’s second album, ‘Union City Breath’, was released in October last year. Much like its predecessor, ‘Born To Ruin’, it has been very well received nationwide and throughout mainland Europe by fans and critics alike. Produced and engineered by Peter Miles (The King Blues, The Computers, Sonic Boom Six), the album is a triumph of punk rock energy, alt. country vitality and rabble-rousing honesty.

Not easy to categorise, and all the better for it, Crazy Arm’s sound is an accumulation of decades of influence and inspiration: rooted in hardcore/punk, ‘60s protest folk/country and Springsteen-esque classic rock’n’roll. They combine this with a grass-roots political overview that embraces anti-war, anti-fascist and pro-community activism.

FEBRUARY 2012
29th – White Rabbit, Plymouth (with Austin Lucas + Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)

MARCH 2012
1st – Croft, Bristol (with Austin Lucas + Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)
2nd – The Hydrant, Brighton (with Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)
3rd – Firebug, Leicester (with Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)
4th – Fighting Cocks, Kingston (with Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)
5th – Norwich (with Apologies I Have None + Great Cynics)

BOWLING FOR SOUP
+ PEOPLE ON VACATION + ERIK CHANDLER
UK ACOUSTIC TOUR
March/April 2012

March 2012 will see the return of Texan pop-punk maestro’s Bowling For Soup, for what has become their annual UK acoustic tour. Coming off a marvellous 2011, which included their second acoustic tour of the UK in April, the release of their 11th studio album the same month, both an attendance record setting acoustic set and a critically acclaimed main stage set at Download Festival, and a better than ever (again annual) full band tour of the UK in October, the fun loving jokesters are charging full steam ahead!

For those uninitiated in the acoustic set, it is a fantastic chance for fans of BFS,old and new, hard-core and moderate, to get up close and personal with the band and experience a stripped-down take on the bands expansive library of tunes.

“One of the things that makes the acoustic shows unique is that we aren’t locked in to playing “the hits,” frontman Jaret Reddick explains. “We can dig deep into all 11 albums if we wish and, quite honestly, can do a completely different take on songs from night to night. Plus, the interaction with the audience becomes an even bigger part of the BFS experience and we can make each night a unique experience.”

Support comes in the form of a few very familiar faces to the BFS crowd.
People On Vacation features none other than Reddick, of BFS, and his partner in crime Ryan Hamilton of the Texan indie-rock band Smile Smile. In addition to this already stellar line-up, audiences will be treated to an acoustic performance from Erik Chandler, who of course can usually be found handling the four string duties in BFS. Material from Erik’s forthcoming debut solo album will be played throughout the tour.

“It’s a long night,” laughs Chandler. “ And we all kind of interact with one another throughout. It keeps it fresh and fun for all of us, as well as the audience. Not to mention, supporting ourselves is a cool way for Jaret and I to introduce BFS fans to the other things we are up to.”

It’s an intentionally diverse line-up which delivers 3 very different bands and 3 entirely different offerings stemming from the BFS camp. This is definitely a tour not to be missed.

BOTH ‘PEOPLE ON VACATION’ AND ‘ERIK CHANDLER’ WILL RELEASE EP’S IN THE UK TO COINCIDE WITH THE UK TOUR.
